Wisconsin Pregnancy Risk Assessment and Monitoring System (PRAMS)

The Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System (PRAMS) is a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) surveillance system for capturing the experiences of birthing people before, during, and after their most recent pregnancy. This presentation will describe recent survey results and the efforts taken to address current issues and underrepresented populations.

Meet the instructors

Mireille Perzan, MPH

Mireille is the Maternal and Child Health Epidemiologist and PRAMS Project Director at the Wisconsin Department of Health Services. She previously served as a Population Health Service Fellow, supporting the cancer registry and Wisconsin’s COVID-19 response. She holds a BA in International Affairs and an MPH in Epidemiology.



Deirdre Sperry, MPH

Deirdre Sperry is a Chronic Disease/Maternal and Child Health CSTE Applied Epidemiology Fellow at the Wisconsin Department of Health Services. She earned her MPH in Epidemiology from the University of Minnesota and a BS in Public Health from Miami University. Her interests include data visualization and health communication.

At the end of this presentation, participants will be able to:
  • Describe the Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System (PRAMS).
  • Describe how PRAMS data can be useful in your work.
  • Describe PRAMS special efforts, including an oversample of American Indian and Alaska Native birthing people.
