Meet the instructor

Richard Rawson, PhD

Dr. Rawson is a Research Professor at the Vermont Center for Behavior and Health at UVM and Professor Emeritus at UCLA. He has conducted numerous clinical trials on pharmacological and behavioral addiction treatments, led international training projects for the UN, WHO, and U.S. State Department, and provides technical assistance to eight states on stimulant use disorder services. Dr. Rawson has published three books, 40 book chapters, and over 250 peer-reviewed articles, and has conducted numerous workshops, presentations, and training sessions.

  • Describe common medical and psychiatric effects associated with methamphetamine use.
  • Describe clinical challenges in developing treatment for individuals with stimulant use disorder.
  • Describe methods and research support for contingency management and exercise as treatments for individuals with stimulant use disorder.
