Series Description: This three-session series will empower birth workers to deepen their understanding of maternal hypertension and apply their knowledge and skills to their practice. 

Activity Description: Hypertension/preeclampsia contributes significantly to perinatal morbidity and mortality. This is the first of three webinars designed to meet the needs of the community birthing workforce This webinar will provide background and describe the impact of hypertension and preeclampsia during and after pregnancy.

Meet the instructor

Kara Hoppe, DO, PhD

Kara Hoppe, DO, PhD, is a maternal-fetal medicine specialist at UW Health and a professor in the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Division at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She specializes in high-risk pregnancies and complex maternal medical conditions and is passionate about enhancing knowledge and improving pregnancy-related care.
